Like mother, like daughter — Barack and Michelle Obama's youngest daughter, Sasha, is a force to be reckoned with, just like her mom.
During a virtual appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday (November 19), the former President opened up about his family — who is mentioned in his newly released memoir, A Promised Land — and specifically, who each of his daughters' — Malia, 22, and Sasha, 19 —personalities favor.
"Sasha is a mini Michelle," he shared. "I'm afraid of Michelle and Sasha, having seen that, they basically have the same look and same attitude."
While 44 said Sasha takes after his wife, he pointed out how his oldest "Malia is more like me, temperamentally."
"We call ourselves 'The Long Faces,' because [Malia's] face is more shaped like mine, and 'The Round Faces' are Michelle and Sasha," he added. "The Round Faces are a fiercer tribe. We're like the vegetarians, the gatherers, and they're the hunters. We try to keep the peace with them. [...] I'm generally the brunt of jokes in my house."
Barack also spoke about A Promise Land's success, which sold over 870,000 copies on the first day of publication, topping Michelle's 2018 memoir Becoming, which was 2018's fastest-selling book after selling 725,000 copies on its first day of publication.
"It's a tad more, but I'm not rubbing it in over dinner," Obama quipped to Jimmy. "In truth, Michelle's attitude is, 'Boy, you go out and sell some books. That's fine. 'Cause that'll pay for some of my shoes.'"
Sasha and Malia share their mom's lax attitude about their dad's book, seeing that the two have yet to read it. "You are never a prophet in your own land," Obama joked. "They're attitude is, 'We've got better things to do than to read your boring rants and raves.' They've promised at some point they will."
"In truth, I think it took them like ten years before they finally picked up my first book," he said of his previous books, Dreams of My Father (1995) and The Audacity of Hope (2006). "I suspect by the time they're 30 they will have read it."
