A Texas security guard quit his job during a live TV interview where he was discussing being assaulted on duty, per FOX 7 Austin.
Percy Payne, a now-former guard with Priebe Security Services, was watching over the parking lot of an office building when he was attacked by two males.
Payne later appeared on Fox 7 Austin to discuss the incident with reporters. The security guard recalled how two men pulled up on electric scooters and assaulted him in an attack caught on surveillance video.
Payne's manager interrupted the interview, initially telling the employee that he couldn't talk to reporters while in uniform.
“We are very sorry that happened to you,” the manager said. “We have a policy that you’re not supposed to do any interviews in your uniform. If you want to do this as a private citizen, you can."
“I understand what you’re saying, but it’s also my safety. And this is the only way my situation will get out there,” Payne responded.
The two went on to argue on camera, resulting in Payne quitting his job during the live interview.
The manager claimed that the assault was Percy's fault.
"Look, Percy, I wouldn’t have touched him! I wouldn’t have touched him! You touched him!” the manager said.
Percy claimed that the men who attacked him were trying to steal his car. He said he's also upset with how police responded to the incident.
