Bobby Brown wasn't pleased with Britney Spears' cover of one of his hits.

During the latest episode of Shannon Sharpe's Club Shay Shay podcast, Brown revealed that he wasn't a fan of Spears' 2004 cover of "My Prerogative," which the rapper originally released in 1988.

The revelation came after Sharpe asked Brown to choose an artist he felt did the best job sampling his music.

"I don't think they did justice," Brown said. "I don't think they really did justice to any of the samples that they have done to my songs."

"Britney Spears butchered ‘My Prerogative,' " he continued. "Teddy Riley produced it. But that was a butchering. I couldn't take it."

When Sharpe asked why he had cleared the cover, Brown said he thought Spears was going to "wow" him with her rendition of the 1988 hit.

Brown's comments about Spear's cover garnered mixed reactions on social media.

"I’m sorry #bobbybrown but if It wasn’t for @britneyspears NOBODY would even remember that song," one X user wrote. "Britney made #MyPrerogative her own. You should be thankful she made that song famous and popular worldwide."

"Don’t disrespect Bobby brown a black man who paved the way for other BLACK artists just because he disagrees with a cover of HIS SONG THAT HES BEEN VOCAL ABOUT FOR YEARS. Do not downplay the success of Bobby brown to uplift Britney Spears that is what we are not going to do," another user commented.
