Christian nationalist pastor Joel Webbon is facing backlash after claiming that slavery was a "blessing" for Black people.

In a clip from his "Right Response Ministries" podcast, Webbon argued that enslaved Africans should be grateful for being brought to America, saying slavery gave Black people access to Christianity, modern medicine, and economic prosperity.

“Without slavery, you’d live in a grass hut,” Webbon said during the podcast. “The greatest moment in history for any brown or Black country is the moment that the White man’s ships arrive on your shore.”

“He brings the gospel of Jesus Christ, he catechizes you and your children, he brings exports, he brings hospitals, medicine, life expansion increases, GDP and resources increase… and most importantly, you get taught the gospel… so that you can live longer on Earth and then go to Heaven instead of Hell,” the Texas-based pastor continued.

Webbon also dismissed calls for reparations, saying, “Your reparations are getting to live in America.”

“Non-European people were worshiping demons while White people were building cathedrals," he added.

The Christian nationalist emphasized how he believes slavery was a blessing.

“Stop whining, stop throwing a fit, get it together. God has blessed you, and he blessed you in large part through White people... As for you and your house, do your part to change the FBI crime statistics and stop killing people,” Webbon said.

Webbon's comments sparked widespread outrage online.

"No! These despicable people are trying to whitewash a history of horrific atrocities, crimes and racism," one commenter said.

"This is not a Christian. Just because someone claims to be something, doesn’t mean they are. This is antithetical to our scripture. He’s a wolf in sheep clothing," another person wrote.
