A viral video showing a white woman grabbing an electric skateboard from a young Black boy in a parking lot is drawing widespread backlash online.
The clip, posted to TikTok on February 19, shows the boy visibly upset, crying, and repeatedly saying “please” and “ma’am” as he tries to hold onto his skateboard. The woman refuses to let go, at one point demanding a “bill of sale” and asking for proof that the board belongs to him.
In the video, the child can be heard telling a bystander, “This lady is harassing me,” while continuing to plead for the woman to release his property.
The boy’s mother later shared her own account on TikTok, alleging the confrontation escalated after the woman mistakenly believed the skateboard belonged to her child, who had a similar model. She claimed the woman initially attempted to hit her son with her vehicle before grabbing the board.
“My child’s life was almost ended over a f***ing skateboard,” the boy's mom said in her TikTok video. “Four of the kids are saying she tried running him over and taking the skateboard from him. She called the police on him.”
According to the mother, responding officers ultimately returned the skateboard to her son and allowed the woman to leave. She also expressed frustration with law enforcement’s response, saying she questioned whether the woman’s actions constituted a crime but was told the situation stemmed from an “assumption” about ownership.
"I asked the police, is this not a crime? Her putting her hands on my son’s belongings? He said no because she assumed it was her son’s," she shared. "I said, ‘If I assume your gun is mine, can I take it without a problem?’ [The officer] said, ‘This conversation is over’ and walked away from me.""
The video has since been widely shared across social media, including on X, where users have called for the woman to be identified and arrested. Some posts have claimed charges were filed, but as of this writing, there has been no verified confirmation of an arrest or criminal charges related to the incident.
Beyond the legal questions, much of the public reaction has centered on what viewers described as a troubling power dynamic — an adult physically confronting a child over property while nearby adults appeared not to intervene.
