The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences says it is “extremely upset” after Teyana Taylor said a security guard put his hands on her during the 2026 Oscars.

The incident happened at the end of Sunday night’s ceremony and gained attention after video circulated online showing Taylor confronting a man she said shoved her.

In the clip, Taylor can be heard saying, “He’s putting his hands on a female,” before calling the man “very rude.” She also told others nearby that he “literally shoved” her.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences addressed the situation in a statement shared after the ceremony. “We were extremely upset to learn about the experience endured by Teyana Taylor,” the Academy said. “Though the incident was with our outside security firm, the experience of every single guest is our responsibility.”

The organization added that it has made it clear the behavior is “not acceptable” and said it is taking steps to ensure it does not happen again.

Taylor later responded to the Academy’s statement on social media, writing, “Thank you… I really appreciate your unwavering love & support.”

According to TMZ, the situation occurred as Taylor attempted to return to the stage following One Battle After Another’s Best Picture win. The outlet reported that she was stopped by a guard from the Oscars’ outside security firm, Security Industry Specialists.

Security Industry Specialists also addressed the incident in a statement to TMZ, saying the interaction did not meet its standards.

“This is not the standard of professionalism we expect from our team,” the company said, adding that the matter has been handled internally.
